Gist St. Reading Series--Well-published poets and fiction writers, casual atmosphere, homemade bread, coffee. Approximately monthly in James Simon's sculpture studio, 305 Gist St. Pittsburgh (Uptown, between Forbes & Fifth), the coolest loft-ish space (up 2 steep flights of steps). Books for sale.
Schmoose at 7:30 pm, readings begin at 8:00. $5 donation.

Choice Cuts --A reading series featuring the works of local poets and writers. Third Friday of every month at the historic Slaughterhouse Gallery, 5136 Butler Street, Lawrenceville. Another cool space. Small admission charge. Refreshments.
SubtleTea.com-- literary site that has grown along with the Monthly Muses Writers Forum at
Castle Shannon Library. The site accepts submissions of poetry, prose, literary reviews and artwork.
Future projects include a printed anthology of Tea members' work and eventually Subtle Tea Magazine.
TPQ Online--An extension of the community writing workshop movement, TPQ OnLine is presented as a community service by The Pittsburgh Quarterly, Inc. in cooperation with the Three Rivers Free Net. TPQ presents high quality literary work from new and established writers. The magazine is continuous, rather than periodical, constantly evolving as material is added, deleted or changed.
Autumn House Press --Autumn House Press is a non-profit corporation based
in Pittsburgh whose purpose is to publish poetry and other fine
literature for a discerning audience.
Paper Street Press --A Pittsburgh-based literary journal, Paper Street’s mission is to connect adventurous poets and writers to discriminating readers and critics; to publish submissions that embody clarity of purpose and attention to detail; to print material of integrity and meaning that heightens the reader's awareness of the physical world; and to provide subscribers with a consistency of talent and the vitality necessary to climb.
Squirrel Hill Poetry Workshop--website of a group of poets in the Pittsburgh area who gather twice a month at the Squirrel Hill branch of Carnegie Library to discuss their work. They represent a diversity of viewpoints and poetic styles — personal confessionalism, New York school whimsy, archetypal mythology, neo-surrealism, Whitmanesque expansion, Dickinsonian concision. The workshop is not open to the public.
The Writer's Almanac-- a brief (five-minute) over-the-air, satellite, and podcast program conducted by Garrison Keillor, who reads a poem a day. The poems are usually contemporary, and some Pittsburgh writers have been featured.
